The Helen DeVitt Jones Clay Studio is a working studio open to the public through classes, workshops, and studio memberships. LHUCA’s Clay Studio is the most well-equipped community studio of its kind on the South Plains. Our goal is to provide the best ceramic experience to all sectors of the public. We offer a wide variety of classes, workshops, and programs in an effort to inspire our West Texas community.

Clay Studio

The Clay Studio has 16 wheels, 10 kilns, a clay mixer, pug mill, slab roller, clay extruder, and a fully stocked glaze room. We mix and sell a variety of clay bodies supplying potters, sculptors, and schools throughout the region. Along with our other services, the Clay Studio also custom fires work in our wood, soda, reduction, and raku kilns.

Clay Studio Membership is currently full, and we are no longer taking names for the waiting list. If you are interested in becoming involved in the Clay Studio, please check out our class list. We offer a variety of wheel throwing and handbuilding classes year round.
