People and the Plains: A Discussion with Deborah Bigness of Lubbock Lake Landmark
For thousands of years, across hundreds of generations, people have inhabited the Southern High Plains or Llano Estacado. They have witnessed the great herds of mammoth and bison in the landscape, traveled its great distances, and survived and thrived on the seemingly limitless prairie. Cultures grew and flourished only to be replaced by newer cultures that flourished in their own times. And always, the grasslands remained – shaping the people who lived on them.
Join Deborah Bigness, Manager of Site Operations at the Lubbock Lake Landmark, on a journey through time to explore the paths of people on the Plains to better understand the Llano as it is presented in Bless Me, Ultima. Deborah has spent her career working in cultural organizations including the Landmark, the Lubbock Arts Alliance, and the Oklahoma Theater Center.
Light book-themed refreshments will be served.
