Tintype Workshop

Come learn the art of tintype photography with visiting artists Bryan Wing and Scott Hilton! Participants will create, process, and take home a tintype photograph. Beginners welcome. All materials provided. $40 per participant. Only 10 spaces available!

Workshop will be held at the TTU School of Art.

Bryan and Scott will be exhibiting a collection of their work entitled, "Project Barbatype", at LHUCA during FFAT in September and October.

Tintypes were one of the most popular forms of photography from the 1850's until the 1880's. Each tintype is a unique hand-crafted photograph on metal, with a quality of clarity and detail that no digital photograph can match. Participants in this workshop will learn how to make tintypes from scratch- coating the metal with chemistry, making it light-sensitive, exposing it in the camera, developing, fixing, and washing- all by hand. We love making tintypes, and we love to pass on our love of these magical and lustrous photographic gems.
