The Life and Art of Damien Hirst and Antony Gormley with Christian Conrad
This lecture will focus on two of the more important contemporary artists working today: Damien Hirst and Antony Gormley. Hailing from England, both artists engage in work that often uses found material transformed into sculpture pieces. Antony Gormley’s work focuses on the human form, creating work that ranges from multiple small objects to figures that are monumental in size. Damien Hirst’s work is often controversial as he blends sculpture with conceptual ideas that are essential components of the art.
Saturday Lectures at LHUCA is an informal conversation over the life and work of contemporary artists. It’s a stress-free opportunity to examine the art and ideas that underlie much of the modern art world. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and join the conversation.
