Explore the Life and Work of Jean Michel Basquiat
with Christian Conrad
One of the pivotal moments in modern art came with the inclusion of the graffiti style. A key figure in the movement was Basquiat who elevated the style into the context of fine art. Under discussion will be the tragic life and work of the artist in the setting of New York in the 1980’s. In addition we will look at other artists that were collaborators and contemporaries from Andy Warhol to Keith Haring.
Saturday Lectures at LHUCA is an informal conversation over the life and work of contemporary artists. It’s a stress-free opportunity to examine the art and ideas that underlie much of the modern art world. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions, join the conversation, and even bring examples of their own work. If you love art, join us.
