At the close of the nineteenth century, Paris was witnessing a cultural explosion in art. One of its more famous cultural locations was the Moulin Rouge. Artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was the first to produce posters for the cabaret; he was also a frequenter of the Moulin Rouge, and his art records scenes of the nightlife of Paris. Toulouse-Lautrec met and was friends with some of the most relevant artists in Paris, including Vincent Van Gogh. Join us for Saturdays at LHUCA as we examine the art of Toulouse-Lautrec in addition to nightlife in Paris during this whirlwind era.
