Wood Cut Relief Printing

Class Meeting Times and Dates:

Students will learn the art of wood cut relief while creating their own design. Students will then print an edition of ten prints from their block.
Joe is art educator for Lubbock ISD and an active artist in the Lubbock community. Joe shows his work at Charles Adams Gallery, Tornado Gallery, and other venues across the state.
Students will have access to the Print Studio during open studio hours (Tuesdays 4-9pm & Saturdays 1-6pm). All materials for assigned project are supplied by CASP.
Multi-color Screen Printing on T-Shirts
Students will learn how make a multi colored t-shirt using a six armed two station manual screen printing press. Students will receive instruction on concept, design development, technical preparation, and execution.
July 22nd, 29th, August 5th, 12th. Students will also sign up for printing times outside of class times. The printing times are to be determined.
Instructor: Eddy Grigsby
Eddy Grigsby is an Artist and currently the Municipal Museum Assistant Director for the City of Lubbock. He has an extensive background in lithography, screen printing, relief and intaglio. He earned his MFA in printmaking and photography at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas and received his BFA in printmaking and sculpture from Cameron University, Lawton, Oklahoma. His art has been in numerous regional and national exhibitions. His work draws on life, flora, fauna and the human component often blending these elements together so the viewer has to engage the work to explore the meaning for themselves.
Location: Helen DeVitt Jones Print Studio
Materials: CASP will provide preparation materials and ink. Students will provide t-shirts. A group t-shirt order is planned once designs have been finalized.
Class Cost: $100
Intermediate Metal Fabrication: Gates
tudents will take on the challenge of designing and building a functional gate. Students will build a gate based on their design and individual needs.
This class is geared for students who have completed at least one metal fabrication class at CASP. General shop overview will not be included in this class. Students do not have to be expert welders, but basic knowledge is needed to complete the project. Students enrolled in the class will have access to open studio hours, Saturdays 1-6pm.
Materials: CASP will provide materials to build a 3'x5' mild steel gate depending upon design. Larger gates or gates needing specialized materials will be provided by students. Students are required to wear long pants, closed toed shoes, and provide their own welding gloves.

Instructor: Harrison Brooks
Harrison earned his MFA from Texas Tech University with an emphasis in sculpture. Harrison is currently a CASP: Live/Work Studio resident artist and works as a fabricator for Rev Limit Custom in Lubbock, TX
