ntroduction to Metal Fabrication & Welding: Integrating Found Object Steel into Sculptures

The CH Foundation Metals Studio
Students will be taught studio safety, a variety of metal fabrication techniques, and basic welding. Students will develop their skills as they each make a steel sculpture incorporating found objects will stock steel. The combination of found object metals and stock steel forces the students to problem solve connections and relationships between materials leading to unexpected results.
Students enrolled in the class will have access to Open Studio hours; Saturdays 1-6pm. Found object steel will be brought by the student. Most all other materials will be provided by CASP depending upon students design. Students will also provide their own welding gloves (MIG gloves can be purchased at, Lubbock Welding Supply, B&J Welding, and most hardware stores).
