"No Chaos, no creation. Evidence: the kitchen at mealtime."
This past year has been filled with the chaos of adding three small boys to our already sizeable family of six. There have been many challenges and struggles, but God has been faithful. I have been inspired by how our day to day difficulties have become our beautiful memories and accomplishments over time. As I watch the boys grow, I recognize my purpose and I am filled with a feeling of joy and gratitude. This body of work is a collaboration of all of these experiences and emotions. Through this work, I believe that God is sending a message that we are all important to Him and we all have purpose regardless of our mistakes or flaws. Turning to Him makes beauty and meaning out of the chaos of our lives.
Metal is a material that can be very versatile and expressive. For this exhibit, the metal is meant to represent things that distract us from our purpose. I have used glass, clay and other metals to communicate the kind of peace that the world cannot offer us….those moments that are so rich and satisfying that we see our purpose clearly.
